The idea for the "Buy A Round of Kibble" program was developed by ardent race fans/volunteers, Lee and Claudia Nowak, they realize how important, and costly, good nutrition is to sled dogs . It is all about the dogs for them, they are the best!
Sled Dog Central, has partnered with kennels and suppliers to bring the BARK program to the attention of mushing fans who want to support their favorite team(s) by buying a bag or two of the kennel's preferred dog food. Unlike the vast majority of sports, mushing is really a year round pursuit. Unlike jogging, you can't take a day off because you're "not into it" - they rely on you 24/7/365! Unlike baseball, training is never "called on account of the rain"! You should never "park" the dogs in the garage because the snow is melting. And unlike footballs, frisbees and fishing poles, you can't toss the team into the back of the closet until next season when you're done racing! Sled dogs and mushing demand a huge amount of time, energy, and money.
